Bon entraînement à tous"I think the power of the Ki is in all of us, but we just don't know how to use it. Even though we are only humble human beings, we have a power. Heaven has given us tremendous power, much more than we know it to be. But we have too many mental blocks so we don't know how to use it. This question of getting rid of the "mental block" is a very important one. And the only way to get rid of this block is by training. It's like an onion, all covered up. We have to peel back the layers to get at it. Actually, your real opponent is yourself. You must be able to conquer yourself before you can conquer anything. You have to learn to take difficulties. When things are bad, for instance, you should never look down. This is the first mental block. Another thing is training to get at the Ki. It takes a concentration of the physical, mental and spiritual faculties. If all three of these faculties are low, then we are bound to do poorly. But when we feel good physically and spiritually, of course nothing bothers us and there is no mental block. Thus, it is at times like this when the Ki can come more freely. But it takes practice. You can learn from practice if you have the right master, the right rhythm, and the right mental and physical strength." - sensei Tsutomu Ohshima, From an article by Anthony De Leonardis published in the magazine "Black belt" - issue of October 1966.
